Cars in German Town Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Authorities stated they were notified by a man who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then found many other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they added.

City officials announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.

An important political figure said the incident left him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
